“It’s such a successful feeling in your stomach,” Carlo said of his tying goal in Game 4. “That experience, I gained so much knowledge and help from all of it, that it’ll help me going forward.”

Going forward for Carlo, who is now a restricted free agent the Bruins tendered a contract offer to earlier this summer, includes remembering what came before. Asked what he would go back and tell a 14- or 15-year-old Brandon — a tall, skinny, skilled-skating, puck-battling, poke-checking kid on the Colorado Thunderbirds — if he could, Carlo said, “You have to recognize it’s still a game.”

“For me, playing at the highest level is never what I would’ve expected,” he said. “Just always continue to have fun and enjoy the game like when I was 13 or 14 years old.”
