The good deal is still available to aspiring hockey players across the state.

The Colorado Avalanche, the National Hockey League Players' Association and USA Hockey have partnered to provide children and parents the opportunity to participate in this learn-to-play initiative — one designed to offer an easy entry point to getting on the ice. Cities hosting upcoming Mile High Mites programs include Glenwood Springs, Alamosa Park and Boulder.

“We’re hoping to bring the program to areas and families that may have never even considered trying hockey before, or have too many barriers to overcome in order to get into the sport,” said Justin Ellison, the Avs’ Senior Program Manager for Amateur Hockey Development.
