Kacy, one of the more than 4,000 kids who have taken part in Mile High Mites since the program debuted in 2016, had an inauspicious start: she fell and broke her wrist during her second practice.

But that did not deter her. In fact, Kacy was so eager to get back to the program that she wore her gear around the house while sporting a cast on her wrist.

“I missed it,” Kacy said. “I wanted to get back out there... it's fun with Coach Al.”

Eventually Kacy returned to the ice and her team played at the Pepsi Center. The goal she scored on the Avalanche's home ice produced a celebration photo Bob uses as his Facebook profile banner.
