Both of these teams are looking for a statement win to help close out the regular season. Both are dangerous as Cherry Creek and No. 9 Monarch each have triumphs over ranked opponents.
Cherry Creek (8-7-3, 4-4-3) has taken down the likes of No. 3 Valor Christian and No. 8 Regis Jesuit, while Monarch (11-5-1, 7-2-1) has claimed victory over No. 10 Heritage.
Monarch is on a four-game winning streak, and hasn't lost in February. An impressive turnaround considering the Coyotes dropped a season-high three straight games to close out January. Sam Zis has been on fire, recording eight goals in his last five games.
Cherry Creek, meanwhile, looks to avenge a 4-3 loss it took at Monarch back on Jan. 4., while also looking to recover from a loss to Heritage on Tuesday that ended the team's three-game winning streak. The Bruins sit fourth in the loaded Foothills Conference standings, but are no team to ignore. Hunter Fieweger, the team’s leading goal scorer with 15 tallies, will look to continue his recent success after recording a hat trick on Feb. 15 against Steamboat Springs.
Both teams finish the regular season with tough schedules, as Cherry Creek takes on No. 4 Denver East on Saturday and Monarch hosts Valor Christian the same day.
