Denver East vs. Mountain Vista

8:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 19

This is the kind of matchup that has Denver East's Ben Kluza, Connor Hasse, Joseph Capra and Calvin Polon wide-eyed and eager to get on the ice for this cross-conference clash on Sept. 19.

The Denver East quartet combined for 10 goals and 11 assists in a 3-0 start to the regular season and faces a defense that bends but doesn't break.

Kluza leads the Angels (1-0 in the Pacific Conference) with four goals, and Hasse has three goals and three assists. Capra owns the team lead in assists (5) and has two goals while Polon isn’t far behind with three assists and a goal.

Ethan James (2-0 with a 3.50 GAA and an .892 save percentage) and Keller Grandy (1-0, 3.00 GAA, .850 save percentage) share time in net for Denver East.

Mountain Vista has given up an average of 40 shots on goal per game through four tournament and two regular-season games, but the Golden Eagles’ average margin of loss has been only 2.5 goals.

Goaltenders Austin Quinn and Spencer Nelson have performed admirably for Mountain Vista (0-2, 0-1 Atlantic Division) considering the number of shots they have faced. Quinn stopped 40 of 43 shots in a 3-0 loss to Castle View on Sept. 12 and Nelson made 24 saves in a 3-1 loss to Cherry Creek a day earlier.
