Colorado Academy vs. Mullen

6 p.m., Wednesday, March 3

The Class 4A North Conference championship is there for the taking for Colorado Academy if the No. 6-4A Mustangs can beat No. 5-4A Mullen on Wednesday and Liberty on Friday.

Colorado Academy (5-0-0) sees both teams this week for the first time this season and needs the victories to complete the conference sweep, which includes a 3-1 victory over No. 3-4A Kent Denver on Feb. 17.

The Mustangs opened the season on Feb. 1 with a 5-3 victory at Air Academy but didn’t play again until the matchup with Kent Denver, giving them a two-week layoff.

The goaltending duo of Mateo Gluck (2-0, 1.88 GAA) and Fraser Smith (3-0, 2.14 GAA and a .948 save percentage) gives the Mustangs strength on the defensive end.

Jack Gerber (6 goals, 2 assists), Will Whalen (2 goals, 6 assists) and Brogan Andrus (3 goals, 2 assists) pace a Colorado Academy offense that has scored three or more goals in each of its matchup this winter.

Mullen (5-3-0) has lost three of its last five games — all to Kent Denver. Hayden Klem (8 goals, 6 assists), Riley Watters (3 goals, 8 assists) and Larry Simons (4 goals, 7 assists) are top scorers for the team.
