With the 2019 High Plains Hockey League (HPHL) kicking off this past week, we will preview some of the teams involved this spring starting with one of the few teams that has a game under it's belt already, Fairview Tier I.

Fairview is a potent squad with plenty of skilled players that should put them in the running for the HPHL Tier I title.  They are led by a plethora of talent from the Monarch CHSAA team, spearheaded by Captains Jake Given (6 G, 16 A, 22 PTS all stats from CHSAA season) and Alex Scatena (10 G, 8 A, 18 PTS).  It has become a family affair at Fairview as well, with brothers Jake Given (6 G, 14 A, 20 PTS) and Drew Scatena joining in on the fun.

Things don't just stop there for the Knights, with several other threats to worry about littered throughout the roster.  Defenseman Fuller Loose (5 G, 13 A, 18 PTS) and Jordan Finney (7 G, 9 A, 16 PTS) add a couple of double digit point scorers to the mix, while Ian Capdevielle (4-1-1, 2.55 GAA, .887 SV%) is a quick and capable net minder holding in down in between the pipes.

The spring season started out well for Fairview, as they were able to come away with a 2-0 shutout victory in their first HPHL matchup against North Alliance.  Sam Zis found the back of the net in the second period and Alex Scatena connected on the power play in the third to power the offense for Fairview, while Ian Capdeville made all 19 of his saves in net for the shutout.
