The spring hockey season is in full swing this weekend with Chaparral and Cherokee Trail taking to the ice for the first time to face off in a High Plains Hockey League Tier II matchup at Family Sports on Friday night, as we drop the puck on 25 HPHL games across the state.

Chaparral climbed aboard the Dylan Florit (2G) train early, as the Birthday boy would score the first two goals of the game, including a short hander to give them a 2-0 lead minutes into the second period.  Cherokee Trail got on the scoreboard in the final minutes of the second thanks to a goal from Joseph Kuzminski (2G), but Chap got one back in the final seconds on Noah Younkin's (2G) second tally of the game to put them ahead 4-1 heading into the final period.

Cherokee Trail started a furious rally in the third, with Aidan Tucker connecting in the opening minute of the period and Kuzminski lighting the lamp with his second goal of the contest, but Chaparral goaltender Alex Karch made 20 saves in net to help Chaparral pull out a 4-3 victory.
