High Plains Hockey League Players of the Week: March 29-31

Another action packed week of High Plains hockey led to some amazing performances, with most teams getting a chance to take the ice for the first time this spring.  Here are some of the top players from a big weekend of games as the HPHL gets heated up in week three.

Daelan Renzi - Mountain Militia Tier I

Daelan helped his Militia squad come away with two victories over the weekend, making 47 total saves to lead them to a 2-0 record to start the spring season.  Renzi had a 25 save performance in a 6-2 win over Mountain Vista and then followed that with 22 saves in a 4-2 defeat of Cherry Creek on Sunday.

Noah Younkin - Chaparral Tier II

Noah was able to spark Chaparral to a pair of wins over the weekend, collecting four huge points in two big time victories.  He began the week with two goals in a hard fought spring season opening win over Cherokee Trail on Friday (4-3) and backed that up with a goal and an assist in a win against Fossil Ridge (7-3).

Luke Lamkin - Rock Canyon Tier III

Luke put together a big six point weekend to guide Rock Canyon to a couple of wins.  He started with a huge five points (3G, 2A) and a hat trick in their opening 4-1 victory over ThunderRidge, and then picked up an assist in their 5-0 shutout of Mountain Militia the following morning.

Elaine Richardson - Polar Bears Girls

Elaine was a catalyst for the Polar Bears getting into the win column this weekend, as she came away with three points in two wins for them.  She had a goal and an assist in their first win against Mountain Militia (2-1), and also found the back of the net in their 5-0 shutout rematch later that day.

Jaden Montoya - Mountain Vista JV

Jaden started the season with a goal in Mountain Vista's 2-2 tie with  DC/CV on Friday night, only to come back with a dynamite five point game (4G, 1A) in a 10-2 triumph over Cherokee Trail on Sunday morning to help Vista pull out two wins this weekend.

Anna Van Herke - Rock Canyon Tier III

Anna started her High Plains season with two victories in net for her Rock Canyon squad, stopping 54 of 55 shots that came her way.  She pulled out a 17 stop win over ThunderRidge in their opener and then saved her best for last with a 37 save shutout of Mountain Militia the following evening.
