Colorado Academy has slowly built a resume of respect among Class 4A opponents.
The Mustangs started the winter unranked in the Class 4A CHSAANow.com preseason coaches' poll and responded with five straight wins in the month of February.
Colorado Academy (5-0-0) has crawled its way to the No. 6 spot in the latest rankings, which were released on March 1, but has several tests ahead in the final two weeks of the regular season as the frontrunner in the Class 4A North Conference standings.
CHSAA polls the state's high school hockey coaches to create weekly rankings, which are released each Monday. Rankings play a factor in postseason seeding decisions.

Top-ranked Cheyenne Mountain (5-0-0) and No. 2 Crested Butte (8-0-0) retained their spots atop the Class 4A poll.
Kent Denver (5-1-0) climbed to the third spot in the poll after picking up a pair of one-goal wins over North Conference rival No. 5 Mullen (4-3-0) to close last week. Colorado Academy faces Mullen twice this week and has a meeting with the Sun Devils on March 10 — a stretch of what should be competitive matchups.
Fourth-ranked Battle Mountain (8-1-1) rounds out the top teams that received at least one first-place vote in this week's poll. The Huskies went 2-0 last week, defeating Aspen 3-2 on Friday and Summit 2-1 the following day.

Ralston Valley (8-1-0) slid from the third spot in the poll to No. 5 after falling 3-1 to the Lambkins on Friday. The Mustangs don't have much time to reflect on their first loss of the season, however, as they face No. 4 Denver East (7-2-0) on Tuesday and Fort Collins twice this weekend.
Chaparral moved up to the sixth spot in the poll after picking up a 3-0 upset victory over No. 3 Valor Christian (6-2-0) on Saturday. The Eagles' loss, however, was not enough to knock Valor Christian from its perch among the apex of Class 5A.
Eighth-ranked Mountain Vista didn't move in the new poll, however, the Golden Eagles (7-2-0) have maintained a strong case for themselves in the poll, winning six straight games since Feb. 8.
