SNEAK PEAK: Monarch claims first Early Bird Tournament Tier 2 crown with win over Cherry Creek

The Coyotes put forth an impressive season-opening showing in their first year as a full participant in the Colorado Prep Hockey League's Tier 2 league.

Monarch’s first season in the Colorado Prep Hockey League Tier 2 league was what coach Nathan Burch called a trial run.

A year ago, the Coyotes played a limited number of games and didn’t even have Monarch jerseys, instead wearing their youth Boulder Hockey Club uniforms.

Donning Monarch black and gold jerseys, this year’s crop of Coyotes showed a savviness that shed their greenness in the fifth annual Early Bird Tournament.
