Mountain Vista vs. Valor Christian

Jacob Strawn's second goal of the game was enough for Mountain Vista as the Golden Eagles handed Valor Christian its first loss of the season, 2-1, at South Suburban Sports Complex on Oct. 2.

Strawn started the scoring as he netted a goal in the first period to put Mountain Vista ahead 1-0.

Neither team scored again until the third period. Valor Christian made it a 1-1 game when Noah Fekete scored minutes into the third period.

In the extra session, it was Strawn who scored to complete the upset. The goal came on the power play and with an assist from goaltender Hunter Farrer.

Besides getting a helper on the game-winning goal, Farrer slowed down one of the state's top teams by stopping 37 shots in a winning effort.

On the other side, Valor Christian goaltender Cooper Robinson faced just 17 shots and stopping 15 of them.

Cherry Creek vs. Regis Jesuit White

Regis Jesuit White's strong 2021 campaign continued on Oct. 1, when the team shut out Cherry Creek 6-0 at Family Sports Center.

On the offensive side of things, it was Robbie Dembeck leading the charge for the Raiders. He contributed to four of Regis Jesuit White's goals in the win as he finished with a hat trick and an assist.

Regis Jesuit goaltender Logan Zlot stood tall against the Bruins, stopping all 20 shots he faced.

For Cherry Creek, the offense was quieted by the Raiders. Bruins goaltender Curtis Fritschiler stopped 25 of 31 shots faced in the loss.

Standley Lake vs. Fort Collins

Standley Lake gave Fort Collins all it could handle on Oct. 1, as the Gators forced the Lambkins to rally and eventually pick up a 3-2 victory in overtime at NoCo Ice Center.

The Gators jumped out to a 1-0 lead less than two minutes into the game when Reid Kosakowski scored. That lead held until Lance Deschler scored on the power play less than a minute into the second period.

The Lambkins power play converted on another opportunity in the third period. Riley Laub was the scorer as Fort Collins went ahead 2-1.

Standley Lake battled back later in the third to tie things up. The Gators' second goal of the night came via Samuel Ingram.

In the extra session, the Lambkins broke the tie and secured the victory when Triston Olick scored his team's third power-play goal of the game.

Standley Lake goalie Edward Burns finished the game with 23 saves on 26 shots.
