Game recaps

After scoring three unanswered goals in the first period, Telluride cruised in a 7-3 romp over New Mexico on Nov. 13. 

Charlotte Katz got things going for the Lizard Heads with the game's first goal. She added the team's third goal later in the period. As for the second goal, that went to Eldora Bain. 

After Telluride was held off the scoreboard in the second period, the Lizard Heads exploded for four goals in the game's final period. Maeson Scarborough scored first. She also tallied an assist in the game.

Despite a push from New Mexico, Telluride goaltender Alyssa Lawson stopped 18 of the 21 shots she faced in a winning effort.

After one period of scoreless hockey between Colorado Springs and Hyland Hills, Colorado Springs managed to find the net three times while holding the Jaguars to just seven shots on net as Colorado Springs came away with a 3-0 on Nov. 14 at the Ice Centre At the Promenade in Westminster. 

The first goal of this game came nearly five minutes into the second period when Nya Major scored. She was one of three Colorado Springs players to score in the win.

The score remained 1-0 into the third period. But in a span of 73 seconds, Colorado Springs tripled its lead. Althea Gaddis made it 2-0 with an assist from Amelia Bostelman.

Then, the lead grew to three goals shortly after when Gabby Kaufman scored off a feed from Sophia Dryman. 

With a 3-0 lead, Colorado Springs goaltender Maizalyn Hammond stood strong and finished with a 7-save shutout. Her counterpart, Hyland Hills goaltender Zoie Martinez, faced 34 shots and stopped 31 of them.


Goalies

Though the season is young, there are goalies in the CGHL racking up minutes so far. 

That includes Zoie Martinez of Hyland Hills. She's played 129 minutes in net so far. She's racked up a 3.26 goals against average, a .912 save percentage. One of her performances included a 31-save game against Colorado Springs on Nov. 14.

Alyssa Lawson of Telluride and Morgan Seaton of New Mexico sit close behind minutes-wise with 126 minutes in goal. Lawsom has posted a 3.57 goals against average along with a .825 save percentage.

As for Seaton, she has a .806 save percentage. Her best performance of the season thus far likely came on Nov. 13 when she stopped 46 shots against Telluride.
