The Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) ice hockey season may have ended two weeks ago, but some of the state's top prep players haven't put their gear in storage quite yet.
Twenty of Colorado's top high school hockey players were selected to Team Colorado, an all-star showcase team that will embark on its second trip to Minnesota to face some of the nation's most talented competition in the heavily-scouted CCM National Invitational Tournament (NIT) in late April. Team Colorado will face competition from some of the most hockey-rich states in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and Michigan.
The final 20-man roster was whittled down from 130 players who registered for the evaluation camp. The top 80 players made the camp and competed in a round-robin tournament, capped by a The Final 40 game at Ball Arena last Monday.
Nine different CHSAA-sanctioned high school programs are represented on this year's roster. Fourteen seniors made the final cut along with six juniors.
