Avalanche hosting free girls try ball hockey event Oct. 2

Hub exclusive: Participants will learn basic ball hockey etiquette, fundamental stickhandling and shooting skills.

The Colorado Avalanche is hosting a Girls Try Ball Hockey event on Sunday, Oct. 2. 

The free event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., will take place at the Lowry Multi Purpose Rink inside the Lowry Sports Complex, 8200 E. Sports Blvd., in Denver. 

Participants will learn basic ball hockey etiquette, fundamental stickhandling and shooting skills. 

Team Colorado and local female youth hockey players will be at the event, while each participant will receive a free hockey stick and ball by pre-registering and signing a waiver. 

The event is at a limited capacity and based on a first come, first served basis. 

Roller blades are not permitted.
